THRACE, Byzantium. Severus Alexander. AD 222-235. Æ Medallion (39mm, 29.22 g, 1h). Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust left, holding spear and shield decorated with coiled serpent / Emperor in slow quadriga right, holding aphlaston and scepter, being crowned by Nike standing behind him. Schönert-Geiss, Byzantion 1741 (V206/R396); Varbanov 1915 (R8). Good VF, green and brown patina, gently smoothed in areas. Very rare.
